A trade show is a golden opportunity to pitch your company’s products or services to prospective clients face to face. You don’t have to pay for expensive advertising to get them there; just for the privilege of being able to be there to talk to them (you pay a booth fee). Not only do you get to really know your prospective customers, but it is your best chance to create a great impression of your company as a highly professional outfit. We all know that first impressions are tremendously important in life, possibly even more so in business, and you need to remember that you are by no means the only company at this show. Your competition will be there in full force. Any prospects you meet must be made to remember that your company gave the best impression of the lot.
You are under no obligation to actually take huge amounts of materials to a trade show. You can just sit at an empty table all day. The chances are you will be extremely bored throughout the day since prospects will have no idea what you offer and no reason to ask you about it. Display materials tell your clients what you do. If attendees are looking for something in your field, your display material has already told them that you might be able to help without saying a word. There are many kinds of display materials available and it is not necessary to spend vast amounts of money on them.
Starting with the initial contact of your client-company interaction, the prospective client should be able to see you from some distance away. They could be walking along and get distracted by the booth right next to you. If they spend any length of time there, they will probably not be thinking of talking to anyone else at the exact moment they stand up. This means that by the time they are mentally available again, they will have walked right past you. Make sure they don’t – get a banner.
Your banner doesn’t have to be a hanging banner. There are a number of stand alone banners that you can buy to catch your potential customers’ attention before they get to your booth. Consider how much space you have and how big you want your banner to be before thinking about a design. Decide on size and design before shopping for quotes. Without specifics, a quote may change drastically as the banner design evolves.
There are banners which can be rolled up and banners which are affixed. You can buy banners from online stores or a store on the street. Make sure you settle on your design before asking for quotes. Having a fixed design in mind will let the banner printing company know how many colors they will use, how much material they will need and how many grommets will be required, which will enable the company to make a more exact price quote. You should also find out what the company’s turnaround time is, and delivery times for online stores. Make sure your final choice is something that you can easily handle and set up for the trade show, as well as being easily transported there and back.
